Final conference of the SEE|EU Cluster of Excellence took place on 17 December 2021
On Friday, 17.12.2021, the Europa-Institut together with its partners celebrated the past 6 years of the SEE|EU Cluster of Excellence in European and International Law with a Final Conference on the topic "Current Issues in European Integration and the Western Balkans". The conference was not only attended by numerous academics from the partner countries of the Western Balkans, but also representatives from politics and regional organisations were present to inform and discuss the current state of the accession process of the different countries.
The occasion for this final conference was the end of the project's funding by the DAAD and the BMBF. However, Professor Giegerich, the project leaders and all project partners agreed that the close cooperation built up over the past years will continue even without the funding. Within the past six years around 30 events like summer schools, conferences and PhD colloquia, 8 publications and 125 research stays have been implemented. Furthermore, about 750 students, professors and academics from the SEELS network and its member law faculties in Belgrade, Nish, Osijek, Rijeka, Sarajevo, Skopje, Split, Tirana, Zagreb and Zenica were involved in the project. In order to be able to continue financing the measures of the SEE|EU Cluster, other funding opportunities will be found.
