Organized by the SEE|EU Cluster of Excellence in European and International Law of the Europa-Institut
The annual Summer School, or better yet Autumn School for this year, organized by the SEE|EU Cluster of Excellence in European and International Law of the Europa-Institut, was held from the 4th to the 15th of October. This year’s topic was: “Law & Gender – Gender Equality and Gender Mainstreaming in the Context of European and International Law” and it encompassed a wide variety of courses, from the philosophy and sociology of law, to assessing gender-sensitive issues in the various disciplines of European and International law. Unfortunately, due to complications arising from the pandemic, this year’s lectures were held online via the Zoom platform. Nevertheless, the sessions were as interactive as ever, with participants engaging in open discussions with the lecturers, as well as with each-other. Furthermore, the participants, comprising mainly of Master and PhD students, in addition to gaining theoretical knowledge, were asked to engage in group work and present legal arguments with regard to the most prominent gender issues existing in cases from practice, on a European and International level. Overall, the Autumn School ended on a successful note, with participants and lecturers being satisfied with the organization and the content of the courses, as well as with strong and friendly connections being established for further academic cooperation.
